Bahco's Fish & Hook - celebrating 125 years

2011 is the 125-year anniversary of Bahco’s iconic Fish & Hook trademark – a logo that has been embedded in all Bahco tools for decades and is recognised all over the world by professionals who use hand tools.

In 1886, Göran Fredrik Göransson began producing saw blades using the same high quality steel that was usually the raw material for fish hooks. Fish hooks required exceptionally strong, durable steel, and Göransson wisely decided to mark his saw blades with a logo that reflected this.

His original logo quickly became the defining detail in a forest worker’s choice of saw – perhaps more so than the brand in script. As late as the 1950s, many workers would ask at the hardware store for a saw “with the little fish”.

Since those days there have been many changes in the kinds of work that is done with hand tools, the way professionals buy them and how tools are marketed. But our Fish & Hook is still there – it is part of every single Bahco tool - and so is the premium quality that it has signified since 1886.

We are proud to celebrate these 125 years of success with a new Bahco website and much more...
